About Young Women’s Leadership Academy
The Young Women’s Preparatory Academy (YWLA) in Midland ISD is one of three schools in the YWLA receiving SB 1882 Partnership benefits.
YWLA is a Midland ISD school of choice focusing on college preparatory academics, leadership development through community service, and health and wellness.
Why They’re Great
Women in STEM: Students have the opportunity to engage with a variety of elective courses including Project Lead the Way (PLTW) STEM courses, Robotics, Destination Imagination, theatre, choir/orchestra/piano/guitar, and more. High school students can currently choose a Biomedical or Engineering pathway aligned with PLTW.
Early Start on Advanced Academics: YWLA offers Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) courses to students beginning in sixth grade.
Invested in the Community: YWLA students complete community service hours each year. YWLA has partnered with Midland Rotary West and has over 100 active student members who completed over 500 hours of community service and donated to international causes such as Save the Children.
