About Mitchell Boulevard Elementary, LAN

Mitchell T. Boulevard is one of six schools operated by the Leadership Academy Network. The network was formed through a partnership between Texas Wesleyan University and FWISD.

Why They’re Great

A Community Affair: LAN has flexibility that allows it to serve the needs of local students. Innovations include an extended school day (a full eight hours), social and emotional learning, and parent and community partnerships.

ACE-ing It: The LAN employs an Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) Model which includes strategic staffing, instructional excellence, as well as other student-centered innovations. ACE calls for the organizing of teachers into Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), nurturing collaborative lesson planning according to students’ academic progress.

Teachers in Residence: The LAN offers a two-year teacher residency program for aspiring teachers. This program includes teaching under a master teacher in the first year while taking graduate courses to obtain a Master of Arts in Teaching from Texas Wesleyan University and in the second year, teaching full-time while finishing coursework.
